How’s Life?

26Feb10

It’s great because I’m living it the way I would like it to be. As part of work, I’m digesting business strategy books rather efficiently. And I agree with my colleague completely on how it is awesomely cognitively stimulating.Just did a 240 pg within a day. Moving on to another today. And it’ll still be a good stack waiting with more on the reservation shelf from the library. It’s 12.05am and I’m itching to dive in to the next book but I must refrain lest my mind gets over-stimulated and I can’t sleep.

The little Missy is much more verbal and communicative these days. I love catching her little expressions. Eyes darting between daddy and mummy when we discipline her with verbal reasoning – it’s difficult to hold a straight face telling her not to splash her food around when I just want to laugh out loud at her expressions. I like her little bursts of joy, like when she tried to feed Latte with her piece of bread (she ate all the cheese, she knows the good stuff, ha!). She yells and cheers whenever either of us is back home and mummy or daddy also match with a little victory dance in tune with hers. We’re just as happy to see you too. Another funny thing she does is to do a multiple-half-squat dance when she sees herself in the mirror, with the look of glee on her little face.

I love this recent idea I’ve come across and I want to pick up the book – it’s from the Harvard stable and the main feature is to judo your business opponents. Perhaps it’s my mixed martial arts training that I’m dipping myself into that helps me appreciate it more. Be fully committed if you want to make a move, echoed by the wise words from Master Yoda that adorns the gym locker room, “Do or do not, there is no try.” I want to carry this phrase for the year and push hard.

And, I salute my Missus for the strength she has shown, caring for missy so well and to put up with the occasional not-so-good stuff from me. Hanging on together, I’m determined to do well for us.

I want to engage in more purposeful play with Missy too ‘cos of this idea I came across about tinkering, doing ‘dangerous things’ with your kids and play. Of course Missy’s too young for all of it, but I want to hold on to the essence and I’m looking forward to the next TEDx Singapore event on play scheduled for Q3 2010.

Good night.
